5 Ways to Stay Active While Your Pool is Closed for Winter

If you rely on your pool to keep you active during most of the year, you might find yourself struggling to keep moving during the winter months. Swimming might not be an option during this season, but there are plenty of other things you can do to keep fit. Try out a few of the ideas below to get yourself in better shape this winter.

1. Go On Walks

Walking is one of the most underrated forms of exercise out there, especially in the winter months. Many communities put up Christmas decorations and displays that give you plenty to look at during your regular strolls. Aim to get a brisk 30-minute walk in every day. If you can’t fit 30 minutes in all at once, you can break that amount into two 15-minutes chunks.

2. Try Out Winter Sports

If you’d prefer something more active to get you moving this winter, look into participating in some winter sports. People who are fortunate enough to live in places near ski resorts can take up skiing or snowboarding, but there are plenty of other options for people who don’t. You can try skating at your local rink or play some games of curling or hockey with other members of your community. Not only is this a fun way to get your winter exercise, but it’s also a great opportunity to meet new people!
