What Are the Best Poolside Foods for A Summer Party?

Now that summer is in full swing, many pool owners are getting ready to host backyard parties. If you’re one of them, you may be wondering what you should serve at your event. What dishes are both delicious and easy to eat by the poolside? We have a few suggestions for you below.

1. Hot Dogs

Hot dogs are classic summer party food for a reason. Tasty, inexpensive, and made for the grill, they’re perfect for feeding a crowd at a big outdoor event. Make yours more fun by setting up a table with condiments, garnishes, and other fixings that guests can add to their dogs. A chili cheese dog or a hot dog with coleslaw and pickled vegetables is a lot more memorable than a basic (but still delicious!) wiener in a bun.

2. Homemade Salsa and Dip

Take your pool party’s chips and dip to the next level with fresh, flavorful homemade salsa and dip. You can make a delicious pico de gallo salsa with just tomatoes, onions, jalapeno peppers, and a bit of lime juice. Add in a cheese dip made from butter, flour, milk, and grated cheddar and you’ve got the makings of a great chip spread you can put together in just a few minutes.

3. Fruit Kabobs

Summer and fruit go hand in hand, so give your guests a taste of the season with some fresh fruit kabobs. You can use melons, strawberries, kiwis, pineapples, or any other summery fruit you can get your hands on. Cut the fruit into cubes, roll up pieces of melon with a melon baller, or use cookie cutters to make the fruit into fun shapes. Stick a few of these items on a skewer and you have a delightful portable snack – and it’s healthy too!

4. Pasta Salad

Every party needs some sort of salad on hand. Treat your pool party guests to a delicious pasta salad with light ingredients like cucumbers, tomato, feta cheese, and fresh baby spinach. If you have time, you can add some hand-squeezed lemon juice right before serving to bring out the brightness of the flavors.

5. Make-Your-Own Sundaes

Every pool party needs a great dessert, and ice cream is an obvious choice in the hot summer weather. Since trying to make a dozen ice cream cones at once is a recipe for disaster, take some of the work off your shoulders by creating a sundae bar instead. With three or four flavours of ice cream, some chocolate, caramel, and fruit sauces, and a variety of toppings, you can set guests up to have a blast making their own desserts while you relax and enjoy the pool. Remember to include a dairy free option if you’re serving any vegans or people with lactose intolerance.

Happy Summertime Socializing!

One of the best things about owning a pool is getting to share it with family and friends. Don’t forget to give it a last-minute once-over to be sure everything is working properly, and remember – if you need any equipment or supplies, Our Pool Store is always just a few clicks away.
